Moving from products to solutions.

Canon are at the beginning of a transformation, from being a product supplier to a business partner. Products are packaged together with consulting services to help customers get greater value from their investments.

There are customers who will benefit from consultancy and support but currently don’t have an appreciation of the solutions available to them.

After research and interviews with the Canon sales teams, we restructured solution pages with a narrative based upon their approach; to fully understand the customer’s complex needs and goals, to deliver the right information at the correct level and to encourage the first important contact with Canon.

A multifaceted product journey.

The site suffered from a large product hierarchy that followed business categorisation rather than user need. We updated the navigational structure to satisfy visitors with clear goals who wanted direct access to details, and those who browse logically organised groupings.

A modular design system.

The site uses a modular approach, utilising a number of templates as a basis to create pages; with each page built from a component library.

A comprehensive user guide was authored to help content and integration teams create, build and populate the new site; providing guidance on the correct use of components and how they should be implemented.

An intelligent assistant.

The Assistant is a discovery tool combining a chat bot, search and a recommendation engine. It allows Canon to directly engage with customers by enabling them to search for terms that they naturally use with spoken language. Terms can also be suggested to users based on their browsing history and content is adjusted to reflect the users interests.
